Aakriti is a lawyer with a B.A., LL.B. (Hons.) degree from National Law School of India University, Bangalore. She is currently working with POSH at Work as an Associate. Prior to this, Aakriti was working as an employment lawyer at a top law firm in India. As an employment lawyer, she has advised on a wide range of significant and complex labour and employment related matters, including minimum wages, equal pay, social security benefits, maternity benefits, anti-discrimination, working conditions of employees, employee recruitment, engagement of contract labour, strategy for effective management of resignations and terminations. She also has experience in drafting and reviewing employment contracts, confidentiality and intellectual property assignment agreements, exit documents, company handbook and policies. She was also involved in handling employeedisputes, including investigations into employee misconduct and disciplinary proceedings, employment litigation and conciliation.
She is interested in human rights issues including, gender and sexuality, and employee welfare. At POSH at Work, she merges her experience in employment law along with her interest in human rights, to work towards developing healthy, inclusive, equal and psychologically safe workspaces. She assists organizations with effective compliance of the law on prevention of sexual harassment at workplace. In addition to the above, her scope of work also includes research and content development on the following relevant issues:
- Inclusion of LGBTQIA+ Community: Recognizing the challenges faced by the community at workplace and suggesting measures, in compliance with the law, to ensure support, inclusion, and equal opportunities.
- Protection of Children from Sexual Offences: Analyzing the legal tenets and industry practices to assess how different stakeholders can best ensure prevention and implementation of the law.
- Whistleblower Protection: Sensitizing employers on the need for whistleblower protection mechanism and the procedure for dealing with redressal of concerns raised.
